Heart-Openers
The school of Heart-Openers gathers the disciplines that cultivate empathy, compassion, and spiritual growth — practices that let one walk, however briefly, in another’s shoes. Its disciplines treat the imagination as a moral organ: a faculty that can be exercised, trained, and refined. The lineage draws on contemplative traditions East and West, on the dramatic and devotional games of late antiquity and the Renaissance, and on the contemporary movement toward narrative and reflective play. A Heart-Opener’s achievement is rarely visible from outside; it is measured in the quality of attention one brings to others and to oneself when no one is watching.
